About Me

A different kind of guide for a different kind of overwhelm.

If you’ve found your way here, you’re probably carrying far more than anyone realises. I’ve lived that too. That’s why my work begins with understanding, not judgement.

Jules Mitchell
This isn’t just my story. It’s why I do what I do.

35 years of lived experience. Not just theory.

For more than 35 years, I lived with anxiety, depression, grief, caring responsibilities, burnout and the slow, often messy work of rebuilding a life that, at times, felt as though it had fallen apart.

I know what it feels like to wake up already braced for the day. To carry the weight of yesterday while worrying about tomorrow. To wonder where the real you disappeared to beneath all the coping. And I know that it’s possible to find your way back, one gentle step at a time.

A note from me

Hello lovely,

If you’ve found your way here, there’s probably a reason. We don’t always know what we’re looking for, but something has nudged us to start asking different questions. So… welcome. I’m genuinely glad you’re here.

I’m Jules. I’m 61, and I’ve lived with anxiety since I was about eleven. Back then nobody talked about it; you just got on with things. So, I learned to look capable on the outside while carrying far more than anyone realised on the inside.

Life has brought extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows: suicide in my family, caring responsibilities, supporting my husband through a profound breakdown, and building a community organisation that helped hundreds of people. All of it shaped me. All of it taught me what it really means to be human under pressure.

For years I thought I needed fixing. I didn’t. My nervous system had simply become incredibly good at keeping me safe. The moment I understood that, everything changed. I stopped fighting myself and started making sense of myself instead.

That understanding became the foundation of my life’s work. Over the last twenty-five years I’ve had the privilege of sitting alongside thousands of people: NHS teams, prison officers, teachers, military personnel, parents, business owners, and individuals just like you. Different stories. Different circumstances. Yet underneath, I kept seeing the same human patterns.

I’ve become a bit of a research geek too. I love the science, the brain, the nervous system and understanding why we do what we do. But what I care about most is making it all make sense to ordinary people. Information doesn’t change lives. Understanding does.

If we ever get the chance to work together, I hope you leave with something I wish I’d had years ago: a way of making sense of yourself that feels compassionate, curious and full of possibility. Because understanding yourself isn’t the destination. It’s the beginning of creating more choice, more joy and more of the life that’s been waiting beneath survival.

I’d love to meet you.

Why my work feels different

Helping people make sense of themselves, not just manage their symptoms.

Most approaches start by trying to change your thoughts, your behaviours or your habits. I start somewhere different.

I help you understand the extraordinary internal operating system that’s been quietly shaping how you think, feel and respond throughout your life. When life becomes overwhelming, your reactions aren’t random. They’re not personality flaws. And they’re not signs that you’re failing. They’re intelligent ways your nervous system has learned to protect you.

The moment you begin making sense of those patterns, everything starts to change. Not because you’ve become a different person, but because you’ve stopped fighting yourself and started working with the remarkable system that’s been trying to keep you safe all along.
